My Story…
I am running in the marathon in support of a charity partner called the "Manitoba Neurofibromatosis" (MBNF) Support Group.
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disorder that affects 1 in 3000 births. NF causes tumour growth on the nerves throughout the body. Although many affected persons inherit the disorder, almost 50 percent of new cases arise spontaneously through mutation (change) in an individual’s genes. There is no cure and much more work is needed for better treatments. MBNF works to empower their members, educate the public, work with the medical professionals to aid in better treatments and ultimately, find a cure!
Running the half marathon would not have been possible without the encouragement and support from my "coaches" Tracy & Troy Gregorash. Their son, Seth, is affected by NF and I would love to support this amazing family by collecting as many donations as I can!
