The Humane Society of Durham Region (HSDR) is a registered charity dedicated to protecting and providing temporary shelter and comfort to all animals in need and promoting adoptions and re-homing for unwanted, abused, neglected and abandoned animals.
We believe that every animal deserves a second chance at happiness and we provide a vital safety net for local animals in need. Our shelter is the only kill-free facility for homeless, unwanted, and abused animals in Durham Region.
We receive no ongoing government funding.
HSDR relies solely on donations to feed, house, and provide medical treatment to thousands of abandoned and injured animals each year.
