My Story…
I work for an amazing organization that matches seniors with volunteers in Marin County's long-term care facilities. Sixty percent of the elderly living in care facilities have no family or friends that visit. Love is the Answer (LITA) programs include our One-to-One Friends which matches volunteers with residents for weekly visits. Our PET Connection program involves volunteers' special pets as part of their weekly visits. When people move into a long-term care facility, they often leave a pet behind. The separation from their best friend can be devastating. Animals, children and music are often the last emotional pathways to reach seniors with memory care issues. Our Bridging Generations program matches seniors with elementary school children on a monthly basis and is very popular.
With your support, LITA will continue to fulfill our mission of improving the quality of life for residents of Marin’s long-term care facilities with these five programs.
