My Story…
As the new Executive Director of LITA (Love is the Answer), I am thrilled to be participating in the BAHR. LITA matches seniors with volunteers in Marin County's long-term care facilities. 60% of the elderly living in care facilities have no family or friends that visit. LITA’s programs include our One-to-One Friends which matches volunteers with residents for weekly visits. Our PET Connection program involves volunteers' special pets as part of their weekly visits. When people move into a long-term care facility, they often leave a pet behind. Animals, children and music are often the last emotional pathways to reach seniors with memory care issues. Our Bridging Generations program matches seniors with elementary school children on a monthly basis and is very popular.
