My Story…
I love helping in a 2nd grade classroom at Vallecito Elementary School. I enjoy watching 2nd grade minds learn and discover. They are little sponges and delight in each new accomplishment.
I love being an extra set of hands helping a dedicated teacher. I have learned how different schools are today from when my children were in elementary school. There are no longer daily classroom aides so a teacher is going it alone. Marin County School Volunteers(MCSV) is working hard to put qualified volunteers in Marin county classrooms. But it is an expensive process. Did you know that it costs $75 just to do a background check with fingerprinting? MCSV provides classes that help volunteers be more effective. Those cost money, too.
On Saturday, May 7, 2016, I will participate in spirit (darn back!) in the Marin Human Race. I am asking my friends and family to sponsor me in this effort by giving what you wish to help enrich the education of our Marin students.
