THE EVENT
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND...JOIN OUR 3ND ANNUAL OBSTACLE RELAY CHALLENGE on our 10K obstacle course!! This is a CO-ED TEAM EVENT and you are required to have a total of 3 members (2 ladies/1 man or 2 men/1 lady). However, you can register as a "single" and we will do our best to put you with others looking to create a team :-).
Each member of the team will run 1 of 3 legs on the course, but prior to your start, "we" will randomly decide which leg of the course you will run (1st, 2nd or 3rd). Each leg is approximately 2.2 miles in length. You will be required to carry a "baton" that you will hand off to the next team member. The last team member must cross the finish line with the baton in hand.
THE COURSE
Shale Hill is famous for it's 10K military inspired obstacles and carry challenges. You will encounter nearly 70 obstacle efforts throughout the entire course. This is approximately *20-25 obstacles/challenges in 2.2 miles.* We have teeter totters, tire flips, hurdles, logs, walls, rope climbs, pond traverse, balances, sand bag/log/stone carries, barbwire crawls, monkey bars, tarzan swings, wall traverses, hills, SHALE, dirt and grass trails, etc.
PENALTIES FOR FAILED OBSTACLES
EVERY obstacle is mandatory!!! You cannot come up to an obstacle and "decide" to skip it and do the penalty instead (this is a big NO NO in OCR!). You "MUST" attempt to complete the obstacle. If you fail while trying to complete the obstacle (i.e., fall off/trip/lose balance, let go of rope, slip, forget to do part of the obstacle, etc.), then you must perform "ALL" spiderman pushups assigned for that particular obstacle. Some of our obstacles you "must" do, no exceptions (i.e.; wire crawls, ankle biters, hill climbs, all carries, tire flips), BUT, some of our climbing/wall obstacles are very challenging and the spiderman pushups range from 25 - 50 depending on which one you fail. All spiderman pushups must be done correctly and counted OUT-LOUD. You will be instructed on how to do a proper spiderman pushup at the briefing before your heat time.
**JOURNEYMAN TEAM DIVISION OPTION**
NEW to all Shale Hill events this year is our Journeyman Division. If you select this option, you are waived from performing any penalties for failed obstacles. This does not mean you should not try them!! And, you are welcome to try an obstacle as many times as you see fit (so long as you do not block a participant from the competitive divisions from completing the obstacle on their first try). This is a non-competitive division and participants are not eligible for prizes. However, you will still receive your team medal and t-shirt for participating!!
THE COST
The registration fee is $50pp + $10 required insurance fee and $35 + $10 required insurance fee for youth 14-17. Minimum of 14 y.o. to race (as per our insurance requirements) and youth can be on the same team as adults in the OPEN DIVISON.

HOW DO I SIGN UP & SET UP MY TEAM?
You are required to have a team of 3 members (coed, youth/adult, etc)...each member will run one (1) leg of the 10K course (approximately 2.2 miles each). Click on the button REGISTER HERE/NOW to begin. After entering your personal information, you will then be prompted to CREATE A TEAM or JOIN A TEAM. Please select either option and then click on the team name you would like to join from a drop down window. If your team name is not listed, then you will need to create it. Once you have created your team, others are welcome to join your team :-)
YOUTH REGISTRATION - Please select the YOUTH TEAM RELAY or YOUTH JOURNEYMAN TEAM DIVISION option to register as a youth age 14 -17 whether you are signing up a complete youth team, as a member of an adult team or as an individual. Once you have entered the registration page, you can select to join/create an all-youth team or join an existing OPEN/Adult team.
