RUN for the HOUSE

We want to thank all our runners for choosing to support BCS Habitat for Humanity by running in this race. The Run for the House 5K and 2K walk is on Saturday, March 5th, 2016, with the race starting at 8:30am. This 5K will be a fun family time for runners and walkers of any fitness level.

This race is less about how fast you run and more about helping low income families right here in the Bryan College Station area.

The first part of this race is mostly downhill. It starts at First Christian Church and takes you by Stephen F. Austin Middle School and then straight down Carter Creek, see the course map for more details. Your participation will help provide safe, decent, affordable housing for a hard working low income family.

Description of Mission – Benefitting BCS Habitat

After a two year hiatus, Run for the House has been revived by B/CS Habitat’s Faith in Action Committee. A partnership of churches and faith organizations, Faith in Action raises money to sponsor a yearly Interfaith Build. Individuals from the committee’s partners also provide volunteer labor for the construction phase of this build. B/CS Habitat sincerely appreciates the efforts of everyone involved for putting their faith into action by building homes and hope in our community.

Event History

The event began in 2009 as an effort by First Christian Church to remember its late pastor, the Reverend Rob Chandler who showed our community a compassionate faith, which held at its heart the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 25:40: “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” Between 2009 and 2013, the Run for the House raised approximately $24,000 for building activities of Bryan/College Station Habitat for Humanity.
