2016 Fallen Heroes 5k

Th FMBA of NJ and this event supports the Cpl. Visnu Gonzalez Project. On April 21, 2004, then 21 year old Cpl. Visnu Gonzalez was wounded in action and was paralyzed from the chest down when a sniper’s bullet tore through his cervical spinal cord in Fallujah, Iraq. A second round hit an artery and nearly ended his life. After 5 years of rehabilitation treatment, Visnu has moved to his new home with his mom, Maria Baez in November 2009 in Hillsdale, NJ. For over 10 years the Corporals life has been either lying in his bed or sitting in his wheelchair. Being a quadriplegic he is forced into a life of inactivity which bring continuing medical issues. Cpl. Gonzalez is in need of funds for some specialized equipment that will make his life easier and not as painful. Funds raised form our race will go towards this project!

Rebuilding Warriors One Dog at A Time is a 501-C3 non-profit organization providing highly trained and socialized Service/Companion Dogs to Honorably Discharged Veterans, Diagnosed as Amputees as well as those with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), and TBI ( Traumatic Brain Injury). These service dogs have proven to be great therapeutic relief for those suffering from the emotional side effects of warfare! The proceeds will cover the cost everything that is needed to successfully provide one of these dogs to our Veterans. It is our hope to have a NJ Veteran or Veterans receive one of these dogs!
