Oak Ridge, TN - The Secret City
You'll want to arrive in Oak Ridge early and check this place out. Lots of interesting things to see and read about here. AK Bissell Park has a nice memorial dedicated to the WWII war efforts. Bring the family and enjoy the indoor pool at the Civic Center, located on site. (open until 4pm on Saturday) Large playground.
1.25 Mile loop on the Secret City Commemorative Walk
Virtually flat, dirt walking trail with light covering of small rock
How far do you want to run? Half marathon? Marathon? 50k? 50mi or more? It's your decision.
Start at 8pm and run/walk/nap... whatever you wish... until the event is over at 6am. Some runners only stay a couple of hours, others run a certain distance, and a lot of runners stay until the final minute, squeezing the last bit of mileage out.
If you choose to, you can stop at any time and immediately receive your finisher's award for the distance you cover.
Camp, or set up your supplies right alongside the course.
We supply a large aid station containing food and drink.
Chip Timing allows you to see your mileage at the end of every loop.
You could be surprised at the distance you'll cover when all the obstacles (hot sun, trip hazards, big hairy hills, traffic, mad dogs and cats) are removed.
