A BIG Thank You

We are filled with gratitude! To join us for Big Yoga for Big Sisters again in 2017, please visit our website. We're hosting this exciting yogathon fundraiser for three events, in three communities on three different dates this summer. Come get downward dog with us!

It's events like Big Yoga for Big Sisters that remind us just what a wonderful, generous, and powerful community we have here in the Lower Mainland.

Thanks to everyone who participated in and donated to Big Yoga. We raised over $30,000! You've helped to start something for our mentorship programs.

Head on over to our Facebook page to view photos from the event!

What Does Big Sisters do?

Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland fosters mentorship relationships that inspire and empower girls to reach their potential, both as individuals and citizens. Big Sisters change lives.

We believe that by changing the course of young lives, through supportive mentoring relationships, we can change the course of a community’s future. These positive relationships assist girls to gain the skills, tools and confidence they need to grow into capable and contributing members of society and reach their full potential as adults.

Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland focusses on making supportive mentoring matches that last a lifetime.  We provide girls 7-17 with a 'champion' - a mentor who is there to listen to them, cheer them on, and be a friend!

Mentoring is crucial for girls aged 7-17 years old. These are critical and formative years in terms of emotional, social and physical development. Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland focuses on prevention versus intervention - these years are essential in determining later outcomes. Ultimately, this leads to more children becoming educated, getting jobs, staying out of jails, volunteering in communities and leading to healthier life choices.

What if...

  • Every girl fulfilled her potential?
  • Every girl was set on the right path?
  • Every girl finished high school, went to college, got a job, and gave back to her community?

...wouldn't that be something?
