As part of a global commitment to promote healthy lifestyles and physical activity, Canada Bread Company, Limited is thrilled to invite families, competitive runners and non-professional runners to be part of the Global Energy Race by Dempster's. This is a one-of-a-kind race happening around the world, including two locations in Canada on September, 25th, 2016.
Taking place in Hamilton, ON and Calgary, AB, the unique races will help to support local Canadian food banks as two slices of bread will be donated for every kilometre completed by our participants!
The top finisher in both the male and female categories with the best registered time in the 10K race will win a trip for themselves and a companion to run in the 2017 Global Energy Race in a participating city of their choice!
Come out, take part and enjoy a pre-race breakfast and a BBQ lunch following the race featuring Dempster's products, entertainment, giveaways and activities for the whole family. Participants of all ages and skill-level are encouraged to sign up and join us!

The flat, paved 3K loop is perfect for strollers and young runners, casual joggers, walkers and families.
10K Course Map
The 10K course begins at Confederation Beach Park and heads west on the Waterfront Trail providing a flat and fast route perfect for runners attempting a personal best or looking to reach a distance milestone.

Advance Pack Pick-Up
Pick up your race pack, including race t-shirt and bib in advance. Advance Pack Pick-Up will strongly recommended be available at the following location:

Race Day Information
Baggage Check
Global Energy Race by Dempster's is happy to offer complimentary baggage check for all race participants; however, we strongly recommend that valuable items be left at home.
Baggage Check opens at 8:30 a.m. Please note that all checked baggage must be picked up by 2:00 p.m.
Water/Aid Stations
Water/Aid Stations will be located throughout the course as well as near the Start/Finish Line. Water and products to refuel will be provided at each station. Aid Stations will also be available for any participants requiring assistance.
Washrooms
Portable toilets are available in the festival area.
Prizes
The top male and female participants with the fastest registered times in the 10K race will win a trip for themselves and a guest to participate in the 2017 Global Energy Race in a participating city of their choice!
The prize includes a two-night, three-day stay including airfare, accommodation, spending money and complimentary entry into the 2017 Global Energy Race.

Getting Here & Parking
Driving directions from Toronto:
- Take QEW Hamilton to QEW Niagara
- Continue on QEW Niagara
- Take exit 88 for Centennial Parkway N
- Turn left onto Centennial Parkway
- Turn left onto Van Wagners Beach Rd.
Driving directions from Niagara area:
- Follow QEW Toronto
- Take exit 88 for Centennial Parkway N
- Turn left onto North Service Road
- Continue straight onto Van Wagners Beach Rd.
Driving directions from Brantford Area:
- Take 403 Hamilton
- Take exit 64 for Lincoln Alexander Parkway
- Lincoln Alexander Parkway becomes Red Hill Valley Parkway, continue straight
- Use the right lane to take the Barton St. Exit, turn right onto Barton St.
- Turn left onto Centennial Parkway
- Turn left onto Van Wagners Beach Rd.

Transit: For public transit information, please use the HSR Trip Planner tool, here. Please note that the Confederation Beach Park bus route does not operate after Labour Day. The closest bus stop on race day is at Van Wagners Beach Road and Centennial Parkway and is a 10 minute walk to the race location.
FAQ
Are strollers allowed on the course?
Yes! Strollers are allowed on the 3K and 10K paved course. Please be careful and mindful of others by allowing faster runners to pass as some sections have two-way running traffic.
Are there medals?
Absolutely! All race finishers will receive a medal as they cross the finish line.
What if I am unable to participate on Race Day?
Registration fees are non-refundable; however, if you are unable to participate on race day, you can transfer your registration to another participant. Transfers must be completed by Thursday, September 22nd at 11:59 p.m. Please contact info@GlobalEnergyRaceByDempsters.com for more information.
Is the race wheelchair accessible?
Yes, the entire course is paved.
Can I wear my headphones during the race?
We encourage participants not to wear any headphones and to take in the scenic views and atmosphere of the race. If participants choose to listen to music we ask you to keep the volume low so you are still aware of your surroundings.
Are there any prohibited items?
The following items are not permitted: pets, skateboards, bicycles and roller blades.
