Flatlanders Road Race
Half Marathon - 10K - 5K
The Flatlanders Road Race, put on by the Regina Road Runners Club, is an annual event featuring half-marathon, 10k, and 5k distances. The start/finish line is on the track at the Canadan Games Athletic Park. Race day is the first Saturday in October.
Race start times are staggered to reduce congestion at the start, to bring finishing times closer together, and for safety reasons so that faster 5k and 10k runners don't have to run back against all of the other runners.
The half marathon will start at 9:30, the 10k at 9:45, and the 5k at 9:55.
The race is run almost completely on the bicycle pathway within Wascana Park, with a few short pieces run on roadways within the park. There are KM signs and arrows marking the course, as well as 24 course marshalls to direct runners. There are also 5 water stations.
Total race entries for all distances combined will be capped at 500 runners for 2016.
The Flatlanders race is intended to be an inclusive event for runners of all abilities. Walkers are welcome in the 5k and 10k events. The Road Runners have made an effort to keep registration fees reasonable by making the t-shirt (and a fine shirt it is!) optional.
The Road Runners are proud to support Hope's Home with profits from the Flatlanders Road Race. In 2015 we were able to donate $4,000 to this charity.
Hope's Home provides necessary care for children with complex medical needs, their sibling as well as typically devloping children form the community. They provide daycare service, early learning and developpment programing, respite services, supportive living as well as transition care when moving children form the hospital into their community home.
