10TH ANNUAL BUTTERFLY 5K
Join us on August 14th for this summer family event!
Location: The Butterfly 5k takes place at the World War I Memorial Park on 401 Elmwood St., North Attleboro, Massachusetts. The start line is located at the entrance to the park. The kids' race starts at 8:45 am at Julia's Playground at the top of the WWI Park. Parking is provided at the lower parking lot at the WWI park.
5k Course: Some races brag that their course is flat…ours is downhill! Get a personal record on this net downhill, USATF Certified, 5k (3.1 miles) course. The 5k start is at 10:00 am. The first mile drops over 100 feet, the second mile is level, the last mile is rolling.
Registration: Online registration is available until noon on Friday, August 12st. Online registration fees are $30 per runner/walker until Saturday, Aug 13th and $35 on race day. Race day registration starts at 8:00 AM at the entrance arch to Julia's Garden. Walk in race day registration will end promptly at 9:30 am.
Saturday Registration/Number Pickup: Walk in Registration and number pickup will be available at Julia's Garden on the grassy picnic area near the Playground from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Saturday August 13th.
Kids Fun Run: The kid's fun run starts at 8:45 am right next to Julia's Playground inside the WWI Park. All participants will receive medals. Ribbons will be awarded to the top 3 runners in each age category. Kid's race fun run registration fee is $5 and is only available online and is limited to 200 participants. Awards: Butterfly 5k – $200 check and trophies awarded for for 1st overall male and female; $100 check and trophy awarded for each for 2nd overall male and female; $50 check and trophy awarded for each for 3rd overall male and female. Age group trophies for top 3 male and female: 0-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Trophies are awarded to the handicapped division for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall male and female.
Team Awards: A prize for the top three runners of competing team will be awarded in the following categories: High School Team, Open Team. You must name your team on the application. NOTE: To avoid confusion please be sure all team members use the same team name, misspellings or abbreviations may cause problems..
T-Shirts: T-shirts to the first 500 applicants! All runners registered by August 1st will be guaranteed their size. Additional shirts may be purchased for $15.
Post Race: Join us after the Butterfly 5K at Julia's Garden for more festivities. Enjoy the Kid's Race at the playground, rock out to entertainment provided by Luke Renchan Entertainment, cheer for the trophy award winners and raffle winner announcements and watch the children participate in our live butterfly release. Also, Willow Tree Farm will be supplying food and drink for all runners and volunteers.
Raffle: Tickets will be available for $1 on Saturday, August 13th and Sunday 14th on race day.
All proceeds from the race will support The Julia Cekala Charitable Foundation. The ongoing mission of the foundation is the maintenance and expansion of "Julia's Garden and Playground" located at the WWI Memorial Park.

Not running or walking but still want to support Julia's Garden and receive a tee shirt! Virtual Participant will not receive a runner bib with timing chip and will not receive a finishers medal. Your tee shirt will be mailed to you the week following the road race.
