Trek or Treat 5K Night Run & Creepy Mile!
Weave your way through Oakville’s darkened trails, where the only light ahead is from your headlamp and our haunting displays. A spooky night-time 5KM run and family-friendly Creepy Mile followed by a huge pizza and candy party! Bring a canned food donation and help us reach our goal of raising 1,500 pounds of food for the Oakville Fare Share Food Bank.

In 2017 Trek or Treat celebrates it’s 12th year in Oakville at the St. Volodymyr Cultural Centre. Trek or Treat is more than just a run. It’s a Halloween tradition! Hundreds of runners, walkers and their families don their costumes to enjoy our 5KM or family-friendly Creepy Mile events, followed by a haunting evening of Halloween-themed activities. It’s a race, it’s a fun run, it’s a festival, it’s a party!
The 5KM run is our flagship event. Runners, joggers and walkers take to Oakville’s darkened trails wearing costumes and donning headlamps or holding flashlights to light their way. Pumpkin kilometre markers glow along the route, and participants get to take in Halloween displays and decorations along the way. This year's "Friday the 13th Edition" theme will feature scary haunters on course and commemorative medals for all finishers! Cross the finish line and come inside to enjoy free pizza, hot chocolate and more! Age suggestions for this event.
The family-friendly Creepy Mile is designed with kids in mind and is scheduled so that 5KM runners can do the event with their families. The one-mile route is decorated with huge, glowing Halloween inflatables and features a mid-way candy station! All kids receive a ribbon at the end, along with pizza and hot chocolate inside. Come early and enjoy free face painting, balloon animals, free (professional) family photos, a magician and more! Age suggestions for this event.

IMPORTANT: The Creepy Mile sells out well before race day. Registration will close when the cap is met. You must be registered by October 1st to take advantage of early kit/bib pick-up. The cost is $15 per participant. Teams can be a maximum of 5 people, one of whom must be 18+ years of age. Children 2 and under on race day are free, but must be registered for insurance and safety purposes. They will not receive an event bib or scavenger hunt goody bag/passport. Entry into the event facility / post-run party is restricted to registered 5K or Creepy Mile participants. You must show your bib to enter (excluding registered children ages 2 and under). The Creepy Mile is not timed. All kids receive a ribbon.

IMPORTANT: The 2017 “Friday the 13th Edition” 5KM run/walk will be capped at 500 participants. Registration will close on October 11th at 4 p.m., or when the cap is met. Unfortunately, we are unable to take any additional registrations once our cap has been met. You must register by October 1st to take advantage of early kit/bib pick-up. The minimum age to participate in the 5KM run/walk is 7, and children ages 7-11 must be accompanied by a registered parent. This is due to insurance and safety requirements and we appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Parents, please use discretion with children ages 12 and up. This is a night-time run that goes through dark sections of trail at night, with no supervision. Please note that entry into the event facility / post-run party is restricted to registered 5K or Creepy Mile participants. You must show your bib to enter. This event is chip-timed and all finishers receive a medal.
