Help John raise money

Again this year I hope to raise over $1,000 for Opportunity International (IO)to fund micro-loans of $150 each for those in need of help to lift themselves out of poverty. Opportunity International provides a chance for change at the personal level for those in difficult circumstances. Many of these individuals do not have access to commercial banks because they often can’t afford formal identification or are unable read the extensive paperwork necessary to open an account. Providing them with micro-loans directly gives them an opportunity to work towards becoming self sufficient. Much of the traditional aid provided to developing countries world wide ends up in waste or worse, in the pockets of corrupt individuals. By funding grass roots initiatives IO make available a better way for your money to work by providing small loans to the poor and needy. Often there are no support systems for their ideas that can lead to their self sufficiency. As well as loans, IO provides ongoing support that helps farmers, educates children, creates leaders, delivers technology and empowers women. By qualifying for multiple loans over time these individuals can build a better life and establish financial independence for themselves and their families.
