Run, skip, hop, gallop, lolly gag or moon walk on July 4th with your friends and family to support Palmer Lake Elementary School at the 35th Annual July 4th Fun Run. This event kicks off the 4th of July festivities in the Tri Lakes Area and supports the children of PLES. The gorgeous and fast 4-mile race begins at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4 at the Palmer Lake Sante Fe Trailhead and ends in Monument in time for the parade. Transportation is also available back to Palmer Lake following the run. This family-friendly healthy event will bring the community together once again after the fires. There is also a kid’s fun run with prizes.
Proceeds from this event benefit PLES PTO and will allow the school to provide fun family and community activities, field trips, library books, wish lists for teachers, and school supplies.

RACE DAY INFO
When? July 4th! Race begins at 7am sharp!
Where? Palmer Lake Sante Fe Trail-head GPS DATA:
Trail-head Coordinates Palmer Lake N39 7.3999
W104 54.635
Directions: Take I25 to County Line Road (Exit 163) and head West. Continue west for 2.5 miles and just before the railroad crossing, on the left, is the access to the parking lot and trail-head. Additional parking will be available on the North and West side of the rail road track. When walking from the parking lot to the trail-head, please cross the tracks via the road and crossing guards.
We strongly encourage carpooling. Look for signs for parking on west side of the lake. The trail head parking is for emergency vehicles and handicap parking. This is due to runners in the road. Please give yourself enough time to park, go to the bathroom 12 times, pick up your packet (hopefully you already got it) and get to the starting line (located at the most southern point of the lake).
Waves? Yep. The starting line will be marked with pace signs. Please find your appropriate pace time and line up single file. Ok, maybe not single file but in a blob. Hopefully you get the gist. We will have a "ready, set, go!" per wave so that no one is swimming instead of running. Runners with strollers need to find the stroller wave for safety reasons. Btw, only humans are allowed to race. Furry friends will need to wish you luck before you take off.
RACE COURSE
The starting line will be located at the most southern part of Palmer Lake. So, once you register and pick up your packet, head south to the starting line! If you picked up your packet early, no need to check in again, just head to the start line and run your heart out! Our first aid and water station will be at mile 2. Finish line is in Monument at 4th street and the Sante Fe Trail.
POST RACE TRANSPORTATION
A bus will be ready and waiting for you to take you back to Palmer Lake after the race! They will pick you up at the Monument Post Office in Monument. Buses start shuttling at 8am with the LAST SHUTTLE at 9am! Make sure you get on that bus if you don’t want to walk/run back to your car!
