COMPETITION FORMAT
The Atlantic Long Track Championships will run using an age based single distance format. Skaters will be grouped within their age category and seeded per distance. In some cases, in consultation with their coach(es), a skater may choose an age category and distances that they deem appropriate for their development.
Mass Start Events:
Seeding for the 3 shortest distances will be based on available Long Track times from the previous or current season in those distances. Where no times are available for a particular distance then a reasonable equivalency will be determined from available Long Track and/or Short Track times from the past or current season. Seeding into the longest distance will be based on results from the 3rd longest distance.
Olympic Style Events:
The skaters seeding will be the skaters’ performances in the appropriate distances on outdoor ovals during the previous or current seasons. Competitors will be grouped according to best time from the previous or current season per distance, in groups of 4 competitors each. Events will be raced with the highest ranked group racing last. * Skaters must have a 5000m seed time of 8:28.60 or 3000m time of 5:02.00 to select the 5000m OS race.
SAFETY
Skaters whose KEF factor exceeds the site rating as determined by the referee on the day of racing will be offered an alternative distance in lieu of 500m.
