Race Details
Stand Up Paddle Association of Molokai is proud to announce the Maui Jim Maui 2 Molokai Challenge to the island of Molokai departing from DT Flemmings Beach on Maui, sponsored by Maui Jim and SIC. The Maui 2 Molokai Challenge is a 27 mile race from Maui to the island of Molokai. The M2MC is open to SUP, Prone, OC1, OC2 and Ski.
The Maui 2 Molokai Challenge started back in 2003 with the concept of giving back to the Youth and celebrating the opportunities of Youth rather than focusing on the negative issues that are presented daily in life. Over the years the event evolved and the focus remains fun, along with some competitive racing.
"The Molokai Holokai will embody our inherent Hawaiian cultural values - taking care of the land and sea, giving back to community, honoring host culture/language, and respecting others"
We are planning on a pre check in for Thursday 6th July 2017 so that competitors can collect their jerseys and numbers as opposed to picking up on race day. This will also be the time to go through the final safety briefing for escort boats and paddlers and most important the Molokai Protocol. We will announce the venue in June. We ask that all of our paddlers respect our aina and know and understand that this event is being put on by community members of Molokai. Please be sure that you watch our safety and protocol video that is part of our entry process. This will be the last chance to register if not doing so online. NO BEACH ENTRIES ON THE DAY.
We will plan to have a beach start weather permitting. If the surf is too big then we will be doing a line start. We have jetskis to help shuttle gear out to the boats.
Prize giving, food and drinks will be happening at Paddlers Inn on Molokai with an evening of wonderful Molokai hospitality and entertainment. This is a fun event but yet competitive. SUPAM will be offering a perpetual trophy graciously donated by our Mayor Alan Arakawa. There will be a solo and relay categories in both open and Juniors.
The following day is the M4Molokai which again is a fun event. The two events combined just make a great weekend of racing while in Hawaii and most importantly experiencing the hospitality of Molokai.
WE WILL HAVE A CAP ON THIS EVENT per the Molokai protocol that is being established. We will have a wait list in the event if we do not fill up the other divisions and possibly may open up solo in the other divisions. We encourage you to register early to ensure a spot in this event.
SUPAM Registration
We have some great activities to offer for those staying after the July 8-9th weekend, 2017. We are trying to encourage people to take some time on Molokai and learn about the island, the people, and the lifestyle.
We also have boats helping paddlers get back to Maui after the M4Molokai on Monday 10th July 2017.
Get to know Molokai and participate in what we have to offer after the weekend. We believe you will enjoy your time on Molokai learning a little more about the island of Molokai and her people.
For those that did not register on line for the boat rides back to Maui, can do so on our website.
Sign up for the boat rides back to Maui on Monday 10th July. Cost will be $100 for board and person or $50 o/w without a board.
If many need to leave Sunday night after the M4Molokai please contact Makani Kai Air, Mokulele or Hawaiian airlines. There is no ferry.
For accommodations you can reach out to Hotel Molokai and Molokai Vacation Properties our local sponsors. There is also camping at One Alii Beach Park and you may contact the County of Maui for permits.
SUPAM BACKGROUND:
Welcome to Stand Up Paddle Association of Molokai. Stand Up Paddle Association of Molokai was started in 2012 by local Molokai paddlers under the parent company of Youth in Motion. Youth in Motion was formed in 1998 and then received its non-profit status in 2003. Without our Youth there is no future of the sport and hence the reason why The Stand Up paddle Association supports the endeavors of Youth In Motion, a Hawaiian Non Profit Organization.
Youth In Motion's Mission Statement : "Empower, Equip, Educate, Challenge and Motivate Youth through activities that engage and develop their mental, emotional, creative, and physical skills on the land and in the ocean."
“Our mission with SUPAM is to introduce the sport to as many people as possible highlighting the fun, the family involvement, the competitive spirit and pure joy in one of the fastest growing water sports in the World.”
Molokai is the center of Paddling Events with world class athletes and events starting or finishing on our island in the prestigious World class paddling competitions. It is our mission to share this sport with much of the community and encouraging our youth to get involved in a healthy ocean activity and lifestyle.
The Molokai Holokai brings our local paddlers and community together to enjoy a festive weekend of healthy ocean activities.
"The Molokai Holokai will embody our inherent Hawaiian cultural values - taking care of the land and sea, giving back to community, honoring host culture/language, respecting others"
