Are you ready for the Polar Vortex Challenge? Strap on your snowshoes, lace up your skates, sharpen those blades on your sledge. Channel the Voyageurs in this Canada 150 Special Event.
Start your Challenge events with the Polar Vortex Skate 5K or 10K on January 29th.
Come back on February 5th for the Skate-Snowshoe-Run Polar Vortex Triathlon.
Then do the Polar Vortex Skate 25K or the Polar Vortex Sledge 3K on February 12th.
Complete a qualifying event on two of the three weekends and cop some special Polar Vortex Challenge swag. Registration will be capped at 150 for all three events and at 60 for any one event. So if registration is high in the other events this one may have very limited openings.
Or skip the Challenge and just for fun, on January 29th do the Polar Vortex 3K non-competitive event with your friends and family.
Participants can use any types of skates, or a hockey sledge. There will be separate classes for different skate types.

RACING RULES
Special rules for marathon events:
Overtaking Skaters
a) Skaters must keep left all the time (keep his/her lane on the left side of the track) even if there is a right turn in the track and passing will be on the right.
b) Skaters who are behind the leader in a pack must move ahead and take the lead, if the lead skater pulls outside and relinquishes the lead.
c) Drafting is allowed in Marathon Skating, even when skaters are being lapped.The yelling of ‘Track’ is discouraged for safety reasons.
