The Muskoka Kids Tri swim-bike-run fun challenge is open to kids young and not so young (ages 6-96) , with distances ranging between 50m swim / 3.2 km bike / 700m run for the 8 and under age group to 400m swim / 12.4 km bike / 3.2 km run for the 15 and older age groups.
There are 350 spots available in the Muskoka Kids Tri. Parents of children participating are welcome to register in the adult category with the understanding that the focus of this event is on the kids. The number of spots available to adults (ages 19+) is limited to 25 for men and 25 for women. Participants registering in the adult categories must be able to swim the 400m without a life jacket.
Anyone registering as of July 6th will not get a MKT T-Shirt at packet pickup since the T-shirts need to be ordered two weeks in advance. If we have leftover T-shirts they will be available after the race is complete on a first serve basis.
Thanks for your understanding.

The Muskoka Kids Tri is an event for kids who like to have fun. Many participants are first-time triathletes. This is NOT an event suitable for kids looking for a super-competitive triathlon experience. No wetsuits for any age group. No clipless pedals for racers 14 and under. No training wheels.
This is also an ideal event for parents to 'try a tri'. We highly encourage this! There is a long tradition of whole families participating and kids getting inspiration from watching their parents participate.
The Muskoka Kids Tri sells out early every year. There are only so many people that can fit into our transition area at Port Sydney Beach. Because we want to have as many spaces as possible for kids - there are only 50 adult spots available. Ideally these spots will be filled by the parents of the kids participating.
Participants in the adult category be able to swim the 400m without a life jacket. This relates to the timing of opening the transition area for participants who have completed their triathlon.
We are very excited to announce that this year's Muskoka Kids Tri will be raising money for GIRLZ UNPLUGGED. Girlz Unplugged has helped over 2000 girls in Muskoka develop self-esteem and confidence while exploring healthy relationships, body images, gender stereotypes and the importance of being media savvy in a changing world.
Here are a just few stories from Girlz Unplugged participants:
Before Girlz Unplugged I used to look in the mirror and see an ugly, dumb and messed up face. I saw my flaws and only that. Now when I see myself, I see myself as beautiful, smart and creative”
- Girlz Unplugged participant
Rowan gained so much confidence about herself, was surrounded by like-minded girls and she felt so loved and respected. It’s a phenomenal program and I am so happy that she can be a part of it. All young girls should participate in a program like Girlz Unplugged, it is amazing the influence it has.”
– Parent of Girlz Unplugged participant
Girlz Unplugged needs help with funding to keep the program running. You can donate to this amazing program on your registrtaion page. Donations of $20 or more will receive charitable tax receipts.
