Run for the House is an annual fun run to support Habitat for Humanity B/CS's work of building decent and affordable housing for low-income families in the community. This run will be a fun family time for runners and walkers all age levels of any fitness level.
This race is less about how fast you run and more about helping low income families right here in the Bryan College Station area.
Each runner will receive a Run for the House t-shirt and a goody bag including a Restore coupon at registration.
The race course starts at Spence Park (Houston St.) and takes you through Texas A&M University. Participants can park in lot 62 for free or in Central Garage.
So come on out and have a great time for a great cause, hope to see you there.
Description of Mission – Benefitting BCS Habitat
B/CS Habitat's Faith in Action Committee is once again hosting the annual Run for the House race to raise money for a yearly Interfaith Build. The Interfaith Build is a partnership of churches and faith organizations coming together to build a Habitat home for a low income family in our community who would otherwise not be able to afford to purchase a home. Individuals from the committee’s partners also provide volunteer labor for the construction phase of this build. B/CS Habitat sincerely appreciates the efforts of everyone involved for putting their faith into action by building homes and hope in our community.
Event History
The event began in 2009 as an effort by First Christian Church to remember its late pastor, the Reverend Rob Chandler who showed our community a compassionate faith, which held at its heart the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 25:40: “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” Between 2009 and 2013, the Run for the House raised approximately $24,000 for building activities of Bryan/College Station Habitat for Humanity.
