USA Triathlon has developed an indoor triathlon program called Tri60 to introduce individuals to the sport of triathlon at a grassroots level. This is your chance to be exposed to the sport of triathlon in a one hour, non-threatening setting and with a built-in support system that drives the concept that 'anyone can be a triathlete'! The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region and The Sports Corp are partnering to offer this event as a part of the 2017 Rocky Mountain State Games! This will be a qualifying event and select athletes will advance to the championships to be held during the Rocky Mountain State Games!
All registered athletes will receive an exclusive USA Triathlon drawstring backpack which includes: a finisher medal, a USATri60 finisher t-shirt (no youth sizes), swim cap, swim goggles (adult size), personal training plan/calendar and much more! Goodie bag is valued at well over $35! The qualifying athletes who compete in the RMSG Championship on July 23rd will compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze Rocky Mountain State Games medals!
Competition Rules and Format: The event in total is one hour and 15 minutes and will follow the event structure outlined below for each age division. The name USATri60 was derived from 60 minutes of exercise (10 minute swim, 30 minute bike, 20 minute run). The additional 15 minutes is transition time between swim to bike and bike to run. For additional information on the USATri60 program and for frequently asked questions, please click here. To find out about training opportunities at your local YMCA, please contact RMSG Indoor Traithlon Commissioner Lindsey Leiker at lleiker@ppymca.org.
