Spring Smash

• Levels of play include Intermediate and Advanced levels – but JCC reserves the right to combine levels depending on participation.
  • Minimum of 5 teams per level required. If minimum is not met, teams will be distributed into other levels.
• 4 players on the court, but can have 5thplayer as substitute.
  • Unlimited subs are allowed as long as they don’t slow down the pace of the game.
• Individual player can play on a maximum of two teams, but the schedule will not be adjusted to accommodate
• Nets will be set at Men’s height
• Co-ed teams: minimum of one female player per team is mandatory
• Each team is guaranteed 4 games (3 pool play, and at least 1 single elimination game)
• Mixture of Indoor & outdoor rules apply:
  • Block is not considered as a touch
  • You can receive a serve with soft touch
  • You can ‘tip’ ball over aka use a soft touch
  • We are using full court with outdoor balls
  • ‘Back row’ attacks are allowed, and we are not observing the 3meter line
  • Teams switch sides at 7 point increments (7/14/21/28/35/42)
• Pool Play includes rally scoring of 2 games to 21 points - Each game has to won by 2 points with no cap
• Tournament Play will be single elimination, 2 out of 3 matches, Games to 21. If teams tie, the third game is played to 15 points.
• Refereeing with be conducted by the other teams, and each team has assigned refereeing duties.
• Fair play: we expect teams to help with calls and conduct themselves with great sportsmanship.

Each player needs to fill out a waiver prior to the start of the tournament.
