My migraine story began 24 years ago. Like many migraineurs I went misdiagnosed for nearly the first decade of my illness. I went to countless specialist and even had surgery before I had the correct diagnosis. Despite the fact that over 36 million Americans share this illness, it is still commonly misdiagnosed. Worse still it is the 6th most debilitating illness in the world and yet in 2015, NIH funding for migraine research was just $.50 per sufferer. Miles for Migraine is helping to spread awareness and lobby lawmakers for more funding. They provide educational experiences for professionals and "camps" and other supportive events for parents and teens.
