Sunday the 13th of August, 2017, starting at 9:00am at Middleton’s Rotary Raceway Park
The Heart of the Valley Century Ride offers an opportunity for cyclists of all ages and skill levels to experience the scenic Annapolis Valley, while also having the chance to enjoy local music, food, access to vendors and promotional materials and apparel, such as a cycling jersey custom designed especially for this event.
Sunday the 13th of August, 2017, starting at 9:00am at Middleton’s Rotary Raceway Park. The routes will be the same as our previous rides. The route consists of 4 loops; a 25km loop that runs counterclockwise from Middleton out and back, counterclockwise from Middleton to Bridgetown (50km route), clockwise from Bridgetown to Annapolis Royal (100km route) and counter clockwise from Annapolis Royal to Raven Haven park (160km route) and return to Annapolis Royal. The 50km and 100km routes have some rolling hills. For those riding the full century ride, the 160km loop beyond Annapolis Royal is home to long steady climb at the 50km to 80km mark; well worth the effort.
Food stops are located every 25-30km; Bridgetown (Jubilee Park), Annapolis Royal (Annapolis Royal Town Hall), and Raven Haven Park approximately half way through the 160km loop. Washrooms and much needed fluids along with snacks will be provided. The rides finish in Middleton with a post ride Chicken BBQ (chicken, coleslaw and potato salad), starting at 1:00pm to 5:00pm for all participants.
Please arrive at 7:30am for registration. The ride will start promptly at 9:00am, with a peloton through Middleton. Registration will stop at 8:15am for a pre-ride briefing and commence again after 9:00am for those arriving late. This is not a race, however there is an expectation that you are able to complete the route you choose to ride in a reasonable amount of time.
Volunteers will be staffing the food stops and these stops will be open during the following times: Raven Haven: 11:30am – 1:30pm; Annapolis Royal: 10:30am – 3:00pm; Bridgetown: 9:30am – 4:30pm; Middleton: 7:30am – 5:00pm. The BBQ chicken dinner is served from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Enjoy the live music from 2:30pm to 5:00pm.
If you choose to start your ride after the designated start time, or if you wish to stop for lunch you are welcome to do so, however keep in mind the food stops will close at the above stated times and you will be responsible for ensuring you are self-sufficient should you be riding after these times.
Please note, we are not able to offer refunds for this event.
