SUDBURY FITNESS CHALLENGE
Canoe Marathon
Situated in the heart of Greater Sudbury, The Sudbury Canoe Club is located within the newly built Northern Water Sports Centre on the shore of Ramsey Lake, just minutes from the downtown core. As part of the Sudbury Fitness Challenge, the Sudbury Canoe Club hosts an annual Marathon Canoe Race in June of each year as one of the 7 athletic events offered in the Sudbury area promoting the value of an active and healthy lifestyle through physical activity.
The racecourse starts at the Northern Water Sports Centre/Sudbury Canoe Club. With three courses to choose from, participants can either stick to the lake, or take on more challenging routes that include portages. Categories include canoes and kayaks in both recreational and open/racing classes in men’s, women’s and mixed categories, and yes! there are races for stand-up paddle boards (SUP). Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each category. Additionally, all participants are eligible for draw prizes. Snacks and refreshments will be served after the race.
Distances include:
- 6km – no portage
