War Child is currently involved in famine relief efforts for South Sudan, Somalia and Nigeria. Due to conflict in these countries, many people are being displaced from their homes and livelihoods. Families have been torn apart, and malnutrition and disease are rife. Do you or your parents remember Live Aid? The United Nations believes that the famine in these countries may reach the catastrophic levels seen in Ethiopia during the early 1980s.

In South Sudan, right now, 100,000 people are at risk of starvation and 4.9 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. There, one in every 5000 people are dying of malnutrition each day. Sadly, the situation is expected to worsen before it improves. For these reasons, every penny truly helps.

By partnering with trusted in-country aid organizations, War Child delivers vital food supplies to those who need it most. They also provide schooling programs so the future generation will be better equipped to come back from the current dire situation, skills and job training for men and women, and they also support the work of legal institutions to protect the rights and safety of the citizens of these countries in need.
