With steep mountain climbs, muddy terrain and views of the shining waters of the Bras d'or Lakes - "The Wild Hog" - is a true Trail Race run through the beautiful mountains of Cape Breton and not to be missed. Taking place the weekend after Celtic Colours, on Saturday October 21st, you will be able run amongst our glorious autumn colours and if you decide to experience more of the island - it is a lot less crowded! This is the traditional time of year Cape Bretoners head out and explore.
This is an event organized and hosted Inverness County youth who are working together to develop a trail race series for their communities. The mentors objective is to reintroduce community voluteering to teens, helping them see the impact volunteering has on a community and to create a model that other teens can use in their communities All funds raised will be used to support a project in the local host communitie and the global community.

Pasta supper, and adventure film showing on Friday night - you can pick up your race package.

Race Day is Saturday with a 21k, 10k and 5k race with tons of door prizes, music and activities for waiting spectators

This is the first race in what hopefully will be a series of races developed and lead by Inverness County Youth. Once we have four races in place, each occurring in a different Cape Breton season, our plan is to award the title of "GREAT CAPE BRETON TRAIL RACER".

An amazing loop as you tackle the full Whycocomagh Trail - Lots of climbs, descents then climbs again with a great final descents with a sprint to the finish.

Run it or hike it - which ever it will be - you will feel it. The 5k is perfect for novice trail runners and hikers alike. Great views, challenging hills, with a flats to help even things out.
