Crisis & Counseling Centers' (C&C's) On Track to Recovery 5K Walk/Run is back and better than ever! Bring your absolute best energy and all your family, friends and co-workers for this can't-miss race of the summer on Sept. 16.
Why September? Because it's Recovery Month, a national awareness campaign that promotes the benefits of prevention, treatment and recovery for mental health and substance abuse concerns.
Proceeds support clients who otherwise could not pay for mental health or substance abuse services. Our goal is to raise $8,000 this year!
Last year, we welcomed more than 225 people to the Third Annual On Track to Recovery 5K Walk/Run. We're expecting to blow that number out of the water this year with your help!
Want to WAIVE your registration fee? You can pay nothing upfront, as long as you agree to fundraise a minimum of $25 in support of recovery. After you register, your supporters can pledge to support you easily online. The top-fundraising individual and team will receive exclusive prizes.
All participants will have access to:
- FREE moisture-wicking event T-shirts (must register by Sept. 1 in order to receive shirt)
- Prizes for top runners, teams and fundraisers
- Kids' Fun Run obstacle course, starting at 8:30 a.m.

FAQs About the Course
Who can attend this event?
Families, serious athletes, casual walkers, youth sports teams, strollers and even leashed family pets are welcome. There's something for everyone at this all-inclusive day of support for the recovery community.
When should I arrive?
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The Kids' Fun Run begins at 8:30 a.m., and the 5K Walk/Run starts at 9 a.m. Please plan to arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. to allow time to check-in and pick up your T-shirt.
What are my parking options at the event?
The walk/run will begin where Capitol Park meets the head of the Kennebec River Rail Trail in Augusta. You can park for free in the parking lot adjacent to the trailhead, in public parking spaces or at the Kennebec Valley YMCA. Look for a tent in the football field between the Kennebec Valley YMCA and the trailhead.
Will participants be timed?
Yes, all participants will be timed regardless of whether they are running the race as a seasoned athlete or walking with a stroller. We will be using 3C Race Productions, a professional race-timing company in New England, to make sure times are calculated accurately.
Your time may be the most important part of the event, or you may just be out for a fun walk with your family to support a worthy cause. Either way, the top three male and female adult runners will be awarded prizes at the After Party. All youth participants will receive medals.
Bib numbers will be distributed the morning of the event and should be pinned to the front of your shirts. A list of the times will be released through C&C's website, Facebook page, and an email to all participants after the event.
Note: If you DO NOT walk/run the entire length of the course, please exit just before crossing the finish line to ensure those who complete the entire race are assigned accurate ranks. There will be signs for early exit near the finish line.
Do you provide child care?
No, unfortunately we cannot provide child care. Children age 2-10 are encouraged to participate in the Kids' Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. Young children are also welcome to accompany adults during the 5K, either in a stroller or walking, without wearing an event bib at 9 a.m. Children ages birth to 2 do not require registration.
How long is the course?
The course is a standard distance of 3.1 miles or 5 kilometers.
Can I bring a stroller?
Strollers are allowed. Participants with strollers will start the race after the runners and walkers at the end of the pack.
Will there be restrooms on the course?
Portable restrooms will be provided only at the start and finish; they will not be located along the course.
Will there be water stops on the course?
Yes, there will be one water stop along the course.
What if it rains?
On Track to Recovery 5K Walk/Run will take place rain or shine. If there is lightning, the race will be postponed until we have been in the clear for 30 minutes. On event day, check Facebook at facebook.com/crisisandcounseling for weather status updates.
FAQs About Registration
How do I register a team?
A team is 3-8 adult friends, family members or co-workers running or walking and having an all-around good time together. You don't need a full team to get started! Start your team by signing up at least two people today, and then round up your team ASAP.
Download PDF for step-by-step directions on how to create a team. Start by clicking "Register" and choose either the Adult ticket or the Pledge to Fundraise ticket. In the next section, you will be prompted to add yourself to a team or create a new team, if desired. Your teammates can search for your team when they register (or you can provide them with a password), and they'll have access to your team page.
If you register as a team, you'll receive a discount on registration. But remember, entire teams or individuals on teams can fundraise – let the competition begin!
