Course Description
Swim Information
The swim will take place in the Dalton Parks swimming pool. This pool is a 50-meter pool with lane lines in place. Unless you are a junior, who only swim one length of the pool, you will enter the water and swim back and forth the length of the pool until your distance is complete. This will be done in a “snaking” fashion. For example, if you are an adult, you will swim down one lane, go under the lane line, and swim back in the next lane until you have completed all six lengths where you will then exit the pool on the ladder or side.
Please remember that the pool IS NOT available until your race begins. There are NO warm-ups.
Athletes will line up based on ability. Be Honest!
Bike Information
The bike course is a flat, fast, 4-mile course with several turns. If you are a junior, you will only be completing half of the course. If you are an intermediate/senior you will be completing one loop of the course. If you are an adult, you will be completing three loops of the course.
Counting your loops is YOUR responsibility! The turn around for the adults to do additional laps is clearly marked at the corner of Morningside and Civic Drive.
No drafting and No blocking. Those caught drafting/blocking will be assessed a 2-minute penalty. Passing shall take place on the left side and shall be called out to the rider you are approaching.
The mount/dismount line will be clearly marked. DO NOT be on your bike on the transition side of this line.
All athletes are required to wear a hard shell helmet, which shall be securely fastened before leaving transition.
No headphones, ear buds, or any radio-type device will be allowed.
Run Information
The run course is an out and back flat course. There will be an aid station on the run course with water. Please note that adults must complete two laps.
As you are approaching the finish you will transition from the road, to the parking lot, to the curb, and through the gate onto the AstroTurf field. Be careful in this section!
No headphones, ear buds, or any radio-type device will be allowed.

You will access and park at the back gate of the fairgrounds and exit the fairgrounds through the back entrance to access the race venue. Transition is less than ¼ mile from where you are parking.
Spectators
This course is VERY spectator friendly, so bring friends and family to share your experience with you!
Body Marking
Each participant will have a race number written on his/her upper arms and age on the back of the legs in marker. Body marking will take place in transition on race morning by our volunteers, or you are free to body mark yourself the night before.
Transition / Timing
Transition
Transition is open from 5:30 – 6:30 on race morning and WILL NOT reopen until after the last junior is out on the run. DO NOT BE LATE!
If you’ve ever raced a triathlon before, then you know that transition is one very busy place, and it is for this reason that we are firm on this rule. Safety is our number one concern, which is why athletes who are currently racing will be the only people allowed in transition during the races.
If there are special circumstances or an emergency, then please see one of our transition volunteers for an escort into transition. “I’m ready to leave”, IS NOT a special circumstance.
Timing
Our race will be chip-timed. EACH PARTICIPANT MUST WEAR A TIMING CHIP (On Left Ankle) AT ALL TIMES DURING THE RACE. Once the participant has crossed the finish line there will be volunteers retrieving the timing chip. ALL TIMING CHIPS MUST BE RETURNED. Timing results will be posted here.
How are the proceeds used?
100% of the proceeds from our races are used in one of two ways. When you register, you will be helping to take the name of Jesus to the running world through the "Who do you say that I AM?" ad campaign. We are seeing eternal decisions made in response to the ads in Runner's World Magazine! If you'd like to know more, please visit RunforGod.com. The second is to keep the day-to-day operations of Run for God moving. Our revenue comes from books, t-shirts, sponsors, and races.
Why do we wait for the last person to finish before handing out awards?
We get this question often, and we understand that some of you fast runners may be waiting a while before getting your award. But here at Run for God, we have decided that EVERYONE should experience that magical finish line experience no matter what their time may be. For this reason, we hope that you will hang around and help us cheer every runner in, and be inspired by those who just a short time ago were saying “I can’t” and are now saying “I did”.
