Join Fort Bliss Sports for our Iron Soldier Sprint Triathlon. The race takes place on Fort Bliss at the largest Aquatics center in the Army! The race is also part of the Southwest Challenge Series. Great event for beginners!
Swim: 400 Meters // The race will begin at the Aquatics Training Center with a 400- meter swim. Competitors will swim in a serpentine pattern and enter the water based on their average swim time.
Bike: 15 miles // The entire course is paved. The 15 mile course begins near the Aquatic Training Center on Constitution Avenue, proceeds to Far East Bliss via the tank trail then back via Torch road bridge, and ends on Constitution Avenue near the transition point.
Run: 5K // The run begins at the transition area, through the roudabout in front of Soto Physical Fitness Center, north towards Old Ironsides. The route loops back to the finish line in front of the Aquatics Training Center. The course is on a flat, concrete surface.

Competitive Categories:
Individual Division: Males and females will each have competitive age groups as follows: 19 & under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+
Athena Division/Clydesdale Division: The Athena division (females 165 lbs and over) and the Clydesdale division (men 220 lbs and over) will have age groups of 39 & under and 40 and over.
Relay Teams: Relay teams will consist of two or three individuals. Each members of the team will complete at least one of the three events and tag the next member of the team in the transition area. Relay team members may NOT also compete as individuals.
Awards: 1st-3rd place in each age category will recieve a medal. 1st-3rd place in each team categories will recieve a medal. 1st place overall male and female.
General Rules:
1. USA Triathlon rules apply, except for family-friendly transition areas.
2. All cycling competitors must wear an ANSI/Snell approved helmet.
Swim Time Certification: Athletes in the El Paso area are required to certify their swim times prior to 4 October. If you do not certify your time, you will be put in the second wave based on your time submitted at registration.
Participants can be timed at Fort Bliss Aquatics Centers on post: Aquatics Training Center (MWF 1-4pm, WF 6-8pm). If you are not authorized to utilize the Fort Bliss pools, please bring your registration receipt to the front desk for entry. Pool Staff will mark your time on a roster. The cost to enter the pool is $2, Active Duty is free. Aquatics Training center is set at 25 meters (race day is will be set at 50 meters). Replica pool is a 50 meter pool.
Out-of-town participants must submit their swim times by email based on a 400 M swim timed prior to 4 October.
Late registration//Packet Pick Up:
Friday, 6 October from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at the Aquatics Training Center. Additional $10 late fee applies.
Saturday, 7 October from 06:00-7:00 A.M at the Aquatics Training Center. Additional $10 late fee applies.
Gate Access
You will need your driver's license or a passport and proof of insurance. A pass can be obtained at the Old Ironsides Gate (off Spur 601) or Buffalo Soldier Gate (Off Airport Road) from 5:00am-9:00pm seven days a week or Chaffee Gate (Off Spur 601) 24 hours a day, seven days a week. PASSES ARE GOOD FOR 30 DAYS so you can do it prior to the event.
