Since 1999 The Lighthouse has been a forum for companionship for bereaved children and their families with others who too have experienced a "life-altering death". The Lighthouse helps children learn to cope with the loss of a mother or father, brother or sister. The journey of acceptance and healing takes time, space and understanding. The Lighthouse is such a space. Unresolved grief can have long-term consequences for individuals, families and even whole communities. Childhood grief is not a mental health problem, but left unsupported it can influence the emotional, social and cognitive behavior of adults. The service the Lighthouse provides is unique and essential.
