DON’T BE DISAPPOINTED – REGISTER NOW!
On Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 12 noon Anova (formerly Women’s Community House & Sexual Assault Centre London) with the help of 4,250 Londoners will attempt to break the Guinness World Record at the Metroland Media Agriplex at the Western Fair District.
The longest chain of people clasping wrists is 4,222, was achieved by Negeri Sembilan State Government in Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi, Seremban, Malaysia on August 19, 2017.
This fun community event is set to put London, Ontario Canada on the map internationally and your $5 registration fee helps support our programs and services for children in shelter.
The fire code for the Metroland Media Agriplex dictates that only participants will be allowed entry into the facility. Make sure that friends who want to witness your participation in this history-in-the-making event sign up as participants too.
Photo Consent
Guinness World Records requires photographic evidence of the attempt which will include an aerial photo of the crowd or a photo showing the entire group and video evidence of the entire record attempt from start to finish.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE . . .
All participants will be assigned a recording and verification number when they register on-line. Greeters at the entrance will direct you to the registration desk assigned to your last name. Your place in the chain is determined by your last name.
Therefore, for individuals who don’t share the same last name, you should register under one person's last name if you want to stand next to each other in the chain.
At the registration desk your name and verification number will be checked and a colored Tyvek wrist band will be placed on your wrist. The wrist band cannot be removed until the attempt has been completed.
You will then proceed to the Arena. Once you are wrist banded and inside the Arena you are not permitted to leave the Arena as per Guinness World Records attempt rules. There is stadium seating within the Arena. There are also rest rooms inside the Arena.
WHAT TO EXPECT . . .
Guinness World Records attempt rules requires that for every 50 participants there must be one designated steward. Each steward will supervise your group during the attempt to ensure full participation. Your steward must monitor if anyone in your group leaves the arena. You will be called onto the floor to get set up for their link of the chain by your wrist band color.
With 4,250 participants there are 85 links of 50 people in the chain which will take some time to set up, so please be prepared for a bit of a wait once you’re on the arena floor.
