Tri-the-Oval is now part of the Polar Vortex Challenge Series along with two days of speed skating event the week before and after the Tri, thus creating a great series of winter activites based around the Emera Oval on the Halifax Commom.
Registration will be capped at 150 for all three events and at sixty for any one event. So if registration is high in the other events this one may have very limited openings. So register early to ensure your spot.
Your 2017 or 2018 TNS membership can be used to avoid paying the TNE race day fee ($5); the very last event covered by your 2017 membership and the very first one for the 2018 membership!! A $5 discount will be apply during the registration process for all TNS members who register for the individual event.
For the team event: the 5$ TNS race day fee will have to be paid separately during race kit pick up for each member of the team not a TNS member. (Can't set it up online, sorry!).
Thanks for joining the fun!
There will be skate, maybe snowshoe, maybe bike, et most probably run! (Depends on snow condition)
Teams of 2 or 3
Tri-the-Oval is back for 2018!!
This year we are again part of the Polar Vortex Challenge series, in conjunction with the Nova Scota Masters Speed Skating Club. The Challenge also includes two long track speed skating events.
This years the Triathlon is hoping to include a Snowshoe and a bike segment, but we are at the mercy of Mother Nature :) We may have to replace one of these segments with a running segment (as we had for the first 4 years)
Leg 1 is the 5Km (12.5 lap) skate
Leg 2 is the bike, 4 laps on the North Common, approximatly 5 Km.
Leg 3 will be on Snowshoes and is 2 laps on the North Common, approximately 3Km
*** If there is no snow (or not enough), we may have to replace the snowshoe segment by a regular run.
Snow shoes are available for loan from HRM in the pavilion at the Oval, if you don't have your own.
Skate practices will be at times posted for Speed Skating on the SkateHRM website.
Registration for each event is very limited so sign up early.
