Flood began in 2007 because God began to stir in the hearts of today’s middle and high school students, a desire to serve someone other than their selves. A grassroots effort began, taking students to serve every other month at a local homeless outreach program. It didn’t take long for these students to invite their friends to serve alongside them so they could experience what they were experiencing in their hearts- A PASSION FOR OTHERS. As they continued to bring more and more friends, flood founder, Kimberly Scales, began to ask God what he wanted to do with the passion these students had for serving. It was then that God created the idea of giving students the opportunity to serve in their community in a simple, flexible, and life-changing way. This was the start of flood student missions.
Since that time, students have continued to demonstrate their desire to serve in their communities and invite their friends to experience what happens when they give a piece of their heart and time to someone in need. There is no other organization currently providing to students what flood offers – a consistent, Christ-centered ministry, that allows students to lead other students in serving by reaching out in their schools and communities. While the need of flood has impacted our communities through service, as a result, Christ’s love has impacted the lives and faith of numerous volunteers through serving.
