On April 29, 2018, the Rotary Club of Los Gatos presents the 41st Annual Great Race, a scenic footrace/walk from Saratoga to Los Gatos. Since 1978 this community event has taken participants from the South Bay and beyond 4-miles down Highway 9 from Big Basin Way in Saratoga to N. Santa Cruz Ave. in Los Gatos.

For the first time ever, for those who hate shuttles or prefer a longer distance, we will offer the Gr8er Race, an 8-mile option that will begin in Los Gatos, head up to Saratoga, turn around and return to Los Gatos. This is an extended version of the early years of the race in which runners could begin the race in either Los Gatos or Saratoga.

Please note the new start time of 8:30AM for the 4-Mile starting from Saratoga and 8:40AM for the 8-Mile starting in Los Gatos.

Also new this year is complimentary access to photos taken at the event by professional photographers. You will be able to download- at no cost- all individual and group photos and shots of you breaking away from the pack! Keep those cell phones in your pocket and let a professional take photos this year. This is a $20-$50 option at most races that is included to enhance your race experience.

The event is great for runners, joggers, walkers and families. Special rate for kids 12 and under in the 4-mile event. Proceeds support Rotary's youth and community projects.

8 Miles beginning in Los Gatos up Highway 9 to Saratoga and continuing back to Los Gatos. To keep in compliance with permits and road closures, please only sign up for this option if a 12-minute mile pace can be maintained and you can reach Saratoga in under 48 minutes.

Packet Pick-Up

For those who did not sign up to have your bib mailed to your house, packet pick-up will be at the following times and locations:

Friday, April 27 4-7PM The Club 285 E Main St. Los Gatos

Saturday, April 28 10AM-4PM Athletic Performance 55 W Main St. Los Gatos

Bibs can also be picked up on race day in Saratoga for the 4 mile and in Los Gatos for the 8 mile. We recommend picking them up ahead of time if possible.

Photographs

For the first time ever, The Great Race will offer complimentary access to photographs of the race, taken by professional photographer. All registrants will be able to download all photographs of themselves and any group shots. Leave your cell phones in your pocket and let a professional take photos this year. Most races that offer this charge between $20 and $50. Great value!

Race Map

Parking/Shuttle Bus Schedule

Shuttles will be provided in Los Gatos from 6:45-8:00 AM to bring 4-mile runners to the starting line in Saratoga. The buses will be leaving from the parking lot on Grays Lane just north of University Avenue.

Return shuttles will be provided after the race until 11AM to bring runners from Los Gatos back to Saratoga.

Sweat truck: For 4-milers, leave your sweats on the truck at the starting line in Saratoga and pick them up at the Fun & Fitness Fair in Los Gatos.

We recommend catching the shuttle bus earlier rather than later to prevent bottlenecks and missing the starting time.

Fun & Fitness Fair

Please stay after the race at the Fun & Fitness Fair with food, massage therapists and other local businesses. If you would like to be a vendor at the Fun & Fitness Fair, please contact race director.

Rotary International is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.

Funds from this event are used to support local youth with scholarships, leadership and entrepreneurial conferences, as well as local service projects such as the homeless program at St. Lukes.
