Why I'm riding and raising money for Parkinson's...
Determined to live as full a life as possible following my 2015 diagnosis with Parkinson’s Disease, I co-founded the Growling Beaver with Jody and Laura Wilson and Michael and Dede Barry. We envisaged an accessible ride that was as hard as people wanted to make it. We will surpass $1 million in funds raised in this, our 4th year.
All funds raised (100%) go to the Davis Phinney Foundation (www.dpf.org), where I am a board member and Parkingo Wellness Project, our Canadian partner. Both organizations are devoted to helping people with Parkinson’s to live well today.
For more on the origins and ethos of our ride, please follow us on Facebook (https://m.facebook.com/growlingbeaver/) and watch the terrific film by Chris Monette, “The Gift of Light,” on our Vimeo channel:
