For participating in Katie's Run for Epilepsy 2018

My Story…

On July 7th I will be participating in the 7th Annual Katie's Run for Epilepsy. Here is a brief story of my experience. I was diagnosed when I was sixteen. After years of changes in medication I was diagnosed with drug resistant epilepsy. I participated in many tests at the London University Hospital. The origin of my epilepsy was found. I have right temporal lobe epilepsy. This year I underwent a Lobectomy. Part of my right Temporal Lobe was dissected. The surgery helped lessen my seizures to one a month, prior they were five (or more) a month. I hope for the day when epilepsy has a cure. Until then, I hope one day it will be a minor condition that you think about in the back of your mind. I hope for more research that will help understand the condition and better ways to treat it. This run is very important to me. It is a day that I am reminded that I am not alone. That everyone understands my life and my battles. Thank-you
