Marisa's Purpose: Run To Recovery

 5K Run and Walk

September 8th, 2018 - Saturday

Lodge Park, Monticello, IL

The Marisa’s Purpose Run To Recovery consists of a 5K Race, as well as a Children’s Race,

"Save The Date" September 8, 2018 Race Start Time is at 8:30am.

Our guest speaker is a former professional football player whose career spanned 10 years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Randy Grimes had spent 20+ years battling an addiction to painkillers that he had developed while trying to treat career-related injuries. He now uses his inspiring story of recovery to help victims of drug and alcohol abuse through his work as a Board Certified Interventionist.  In 2012, out of a desire to help other struggling athletes that he played with and against, Randy launched “Athletes in Recovery” a program which is designed to help athletes of all levels find treatment for addiction, while offering continued support for those already in recovery.

We also have Tim Ryan  A Man In Recovery Foundation (AMIRF) returning from Naperville  IL.

In addition to our speakers we have Sally the clown face-painting and balloons.  We will have music, and raffles. We are expecting approximately 200 runners to participate in this Event. In addition to the participating runners, hundreds of spectators will be following the race. The race will begin and end at Lodge Park in Monticello, IL. This is an excellent opportunity for you to show your support for Marisa’s Purpose Run To Recovery.

All proceeds from this Event will go to continuing educating our youth and the parents. My hope is that we can help as many people possible struggling with drug and alcohol abuse. This past year we have helped four people get into recovery, two people return to NA (Narcotics Anonymous) and we helped oversee a parent child intervention. We hosted two Narcan (Naloxone)  educating  and training classes here in Piatt County, and plan to host more. I visit as many schools as possible to talk to the students about the dangers of drugs and how it affects the whole family.
