Welcome to a brand new event in a sport that is sweeping across the world. Swim/Run is the next big thing and we are thrilled to be at the cutting edge of this new sport with a brand new event in Rockwood Park, Saint John.
Our swim run event will consist of teams of 2 people competing over a total of roughly 10k-12k of varying distances of swimming and running all within Rockwood Park. All competitors must wear the swim cap provided and finishers will receive a T-shirt and Medal.
There will be a minimum of 3 swims and 3 runs of varying distances over the route with 1 mass start at the Interpretation Centre. You will need to carry all your gear and equipment with you to complete the entire race. Flotation equipment is allowed, ie, floats, pull buoys, kick boards, paddles are all legal as you will need to carry or wear your running shoes while swimming and carry your goggles, swim caps while running. Equipment may not be discarded anywhere on the course and outside assistance is not permitted and there is no transition area. Team members are there to help each other as a safety feature so you must start together, swim together, run together and finish together.
Our course will cover trails and roads throughout Rockwood Park starting and finishing at the Interpretation Center with the course taking in Lily Lake, Fisher Lake and Long Lake. For a fun twist you will need to collect a specific page from a book at each checkpoint along the way, these will be clearly indicated in the pre-race info and all pages must be returned to the finish line and checked off to successfully complete the race.
Teams are not allowed to tear opposing teams pages from the book and we recommend a zip lock bag to keep your pages dry throughout the race.
We will provide a detailed route map in advance of the course and it will be the responsibility of the competitors to successfully navigate the course.
Swim/Run Race format - the following could be the format of this race:
500m run, 300m swim, 1.5k run, 500m swim, 3k run, 1k swim, 2k run, 500m swim, 1.5k swim, 300m swim & 500m run to the finish.
