GIANTS COMMUNITY FUND OVERVIEW
The Giants Community Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, collaborates with the Giants organization by using baseball as a forum to encourage underserved youth and their families to live healthy, productive lives. The Fund supports Junior Giants leagues throughout Northern California, Nevada and Oregon and provides assistance to targeted community initiatives in the areas of education, health and violence prevention.
Since its inception in 1991, the Fund has donated over $28 million to community efforts. The Fund is managed by a 30-member Board of Directors and is sustained by contributions from individuals, businesses and foundations through a number of special partnerships and fundraisers.
In 1994, the Board of Directors of the Fund decided that in order to make a significant and lasting impact in the lives of our children, the Fund needed to focus the majority of its resources on an effective and wide-reaching youth program. The Fund sought to create a program that would give at-risk kids a meaningful partnership with community-based organizations. In doing so, the Fund could play a part in helping to end the cycle of violence. Therefore, the Junior Giants Program was established as our flagship program.
