Miles For Migraine - Los Angeles, CA
Miles for Migraine will host its first 2-mile Walk/ 5K/ 10K Walk/Run in Los Angeles at Woodley Park. This Fundraiser for Migraine & Headache Awareness, Treatment & Research will take place Saturday December 8, 2018.
Please join us immediately following the walk/run awards for a FREE Community Breakfast at Woodley Park.
Prizes awarded based on fundraising level:

About the Brain Hat Society: People with migraine, their caregivers, and their friends and family should be recognized for their heroic efforts. Stigma imposes a huge penalty in the everyday lives of patients with migraine. It increases social isolation and causes adverse consequences to self-esteem and mood. Stigmatized diseases get less research funding, and payers are less likely to pay for the treatment of stigmatized diseases. In order to reverse the stigma of migraine we need to understand why it exists. By wearing your brain hat, you are doing several things: joining a community of like-minded people who want real change about the perception of migraine, and other headache diseases, while also showing the public that migraine is a severe, neurological disease. In addition, you will show others that raising funds to alleviate a shortage of trained health care professionals who treat these diseases is necessary to help you and your fellow community members obtain better access to treatments. Finally, you will have fun wearing this hat to our events! Each time you achieve a new fundraising or attendance goal, you will receive an iron-on patch to add to your brain hat. So, please join the club!

Packet pick up is at Fleet Feet Encino at on Friday December 7th from 4PM - 7PM. Their address is 16545 Ventura Blvd, Los Angeles, CA
If you are unable to attend Packet Pickup, you will be able to get your packet between 7:45AM-8:45AM at Woodley Park on race morning.
Map The Migraine Scavenger Hunt
Sign up for a Scavenger Hunt - Map the Migraine. For kids to learn more about migraine by “mapping the migraine” (searching for areas of the body affected by migraine) AND to have fun!
The body parts we discuss include: EYES, EARS, NOSE, STOMACH, NECK, SCALP, and of course BRAIN.
Appropriate for all age levels. Kids 8 and below need an adult present. All kids will receive prizes during the event.
ALL EVENTS WILL TAKE PLACE RAIN or SHINE (Sorry, No-Refunds)
NOTE 10k is only for runners. We can not keep the course open past 10:00. If you want to walk/run the 5k and can be finished by 10, then that is ok.
Strollers are permitted, but will be asked to consider starting towards the back of the pack. Regarding dogs, we love furry friends, but this is not an event for them. Please plan to leave your doggies at home.

If you are a migraine or headache disorders advocate who is not feeling up to a walk, run or volunteer assignment on the day of the event, PLEASE still plan to come join us for this important day of advocacy. We will have a quiet tent at the event for you to rest in. Come out and meet others in your community who understand life with migraine and headache disease and show your community why we need a cure!

Come and hear local doctors speak on migraine, while networking and meeting others with migraine, along with caregivers. This event is designed to support you in your journey with migraine or headache disease. Kids welcome too! The breakfast is being offered at no charge, thanks to our sponsors.

Join us at our post - walk/run breakfast for the latest updated information on migraine and cluster. Come prepared with your questions, as the specialists in headache medicine from USC (Dr. Soma Sahai, Dr. Paul-Henri Cesar, Dr. Lauren Green and Dr. Ravikumar) will take questions from the audience. 2 Mile Walk
Start at Woodley park -1, head west through the tunnel walk way, when you exit the tunnel take a right, then another right (yes a big U-turn) onto the main bike path that runs along Woodley Ave, follow the paved bike path up to the 2 mile turn around sign, turn around and head back up the bike path to the finish line.

Start at Woodley park -1, head west through the tunnel walk way, when you exit the tunnel take a right, then another right (yes a big U-turn) onto the main bike path that runs along Woodley Ave, follow the paved bike path up to the 10K turn around sign ( Burbank Blvd & Hayvenhurst Ave ) , turn around and head back up the bike path to the large fork in the road at the main dirt trail, turn left at the dirt trail that will lead you to the west side bike path that runs along Balboa Blvd, turn right and follow the bike path that runs along the perimeter of the park and that will lead you back to the tunnel walk way and to the Start / Finish line.
