The Big Give is Peter Muhlenberg’s 7th annual community service event with hundreds of students completing a variety of community service projects at PMMS and throughout Shenandoah County. This year the Big Give will be on Saturday, April, 14th, 2018!
About The Big Give
The Big Give provides a real-life, authentic way for students to understand the civic standard of effective citizenship and to give back to their community. Over the past five years, students have taken the lead in organizing events to raise money for community organizations (including the school library, breast cancer research, and the Shenandoah National Park). Students served those living in nursing homes, worked to feed the hungry, remembered the military and those affected by natural disasters, supported literacy, raised funds for charity, and took care of animals and the environment.
Volunteer activities this year include Adopt-A-Street trash pick up, making crafts with residents at Consulate Nursing Home, Blood Drive with Virginia Blood Services, blanket making with Project Linus, rock painting to have rocks to hide throughout town in the spring, book drive, food drive for Lighthouse Grocery, campus clean up, painting rooms at Family Promise, and a 5K race to benefit the Patriots and Police lunch program.
