Heli Run 5K

The inaugural “Heli Run 5K” is hosted by Leonardo Helicopters/AgustaWestland Philadelphia Corporation and the Northeast Philadelphia airport.
Heli Run is a community charity event with 100% of all proceeds supporting The Weekly Fight.
The Weekly Fight is a registered 501c3 non-profit company dedicated to turning Combat Post Traumatic Stress into Post Traumatic Growth. Through weekly meetings, workouts, seminars, and community events they are creating a supportive, prevention-oriented community for Veterans and Veteran family members.
Race participants take note: You will have the unprecedented experience of running a race course within and around the Northeast Philadelphia airport including a closed runway, through the Leonardo Helicopters campus, and ending with a sprint through the helicopter assembly line to the finish. Along the course you will see Philadelphia’s finest hometown helicopters in various stages of assembly, fully completed, and in flight.
Everyone who registers (Runners and Walkers) BEFORE June 7th, you will be entered into a raffle for a helicopter flight immediately following the event!
This race experience is absolutely unmatched and is almost guaranteed to sell out. Join us for a great race, a great experience and all in support of an amazing charity!

REGISTRATION INFO
REGISTRATION: Registration closes when registration sells out. If the event does not sell out, there WILL BE day-of registration. Onsite packet pick up begins Saturday 6/9 at 6:45AM, Heli Run starts promptly at 8:00AM.
EVENT LOCATION: 3050 Red Lion Road, Philadelphia, PA 19114
PARKING: Ample parking is available in Leonardo Helicopters campus parking lots and on Red Lion Road. We will have signage and staff to direct you.
COURSE: See map attached. NOTE: Course is mixed used 96% paved concrete, 2% dirt, and 2% gravel. There is a small section of the course where you will exit the airfield across and unpaved area of the property onto a bike path.
For the 1.6K WALK participants will stay inside the airport grounds and also finish through the Assembly line.
For the 5K RUN: Course begins and ends on Leonardo Helicopters campus.
Participants will begin running South onto airport runway, turns left on unused runway and out toward Academy Road gate. The course then turns left onto Red Lion Road, where participants follow the bend turning right onto Decatur Rd toward the Skate Zone (at corner of Comly Rd & Decatur).
The course doubles back down Decatur, left to Red Lion Road, and then right back into Leonardo’s campus. Once on campus participants will follow the course around the warehouse turning right for a straightaway to the finish line, which sits just beyond the end of the Assembly Line.
Participants will end the race amongst a static display of Leonardo Helicopters’ products where they can refuel with some post-race nutrition, selfie with the aircraft and congratulate the leading competitors and themselves on hard work paying off for a great cause!
AWARDS: The race will recognize the top 3 men’s and women’s participants who will take home special helicopter trophies commemorating their achievements.
SWAG:All participants will receive a custom t-shirt marking the inaugural Heli Run 5K
CHARITY/CAUSE DETAILS: All proceeds benefit The Weekly Fight! TWF is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization, founded and run by veterans, dedicated to turning Combat Post Traumatic Stress into Post Traumatic Growth. Through weekly meetings, workouts, seminars, and community events TWF is creating a supportive, prevention-oriented community for military, veterans and family members. Participants encouraged during weekly workout sessions, or to participate in any way they can, to positively impact the local military and veteran communities.
