R2//NYC is a supported ride that will start at Camp Ooch in Toronto and take the roads less traveled down through New York State and Pennsylvania, with an epic finish in Central Park. Be one of the founding riders in this challenge and give kids with cancer the chance to just be kids.

We Ride for Ooch:

A childhood cancer diagnosis changes what a child has, not who a child is. There is a possibility for great joy in the darkness that is childhood cancer, and the potential to heal, grow and connect. For 35 years, Camp Oochigeas has been bringing confidence, resiliency, independence, and playfulness to children with cancer and their families. We bring kids to Ooch, and we bring Ooch to kids and their families. 2,400 kids with cancer don’t have access to overnight camp at Ooch Muskoka. Our aspiration is to bring the Magic of Ooch to every child and family in Ontario affected by childhood cancer. As a privately funded organization Ooch relies on the generosity of donors and events to ensure their programming continues to be offered to campers and their families at no cost.

The Format:

The ride format is based on a proven Danish model; Team Rynkeby; which is an epic 1,000km ride supporting 2,000 riders originating in 4 Scandinavian countries riding to Paris, France. The unique team format brings approximately 20 riders per team together to self-organize within the framework of the R2//NYC Ride. All teams will arrive just outside New York City, finishing the journey together with a collective finish in Central Park.

Why You:

We are looking for 16 Founding Riders to help launch R2//NYC with a goal to grow the ride in future years to include over 800 riders from across South Western Ontario and Southern Quebec. We will be looking to you to captain your own team in years to come, thereby growing the ride from 16 founders to hundreds of riders.

The Goods:

The inaugural 2018 ride will be fully supported and include: Hotels along the journey, one night hotel in NYC, all meals, SAG support, finish reception in NYC along with return flight and transportation for your bike back to Toronto. Your ride kit will include:

• 2 x bib shorts
• 2 x jerseys
• 1 x jacket
• 1 x vest
• 1 x arm warmers
• 1 x leg warmers
• 1 x cap
• 1 x hoodie

How to Get on the Ride:

$1,750 Registration Fee and a $5,000 fundraising minimum with 100% of net proceeds going to Camp Ooch.
