8TH ANNUAL 5K RUN/WALK FOR EDUCATION
.5 K for kids 12 and under
(17 and under)
Friday, September 14th at Central Office (516 Jordan) from 9a.m. to 2p.m. or at the Jacksonville Square on race day starting at 8a.m.
Awards for the 5K will be given to the overall male and female winners & the top 2 male and female finishers for each age group (13 & under, 14-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and Masters). All .5K Fun Run participants will receive a participation ribbon & gift.
The course begins on the revitalized Jacksonville downtown square exiting south on Main St under the arch heading west on to College Ave. During your time on College Ave., you will run by the Jacksonville Public Library, the David Strawn Art Gallery, the notable Jacksonville High School Bowl and then past the impressive campus of Illinois College. As you turn on to Webster Ave by the Illinois School for the Deaf, the course will take you by Duncan Park and lead you down to Lafayette Ave. where you will head east for one block before turning south on to Sandusky (here you will find water). This will bring you back by Duncan Park which is home to Governor Duncan’s Mansion. After turning east off of Sandusky on to State St., you are in the home stretch as you head back to the Downtown Square while passing some of the most beautiful and historic homes in Morgan County. A map will be available at the race.
Online registration closes on September 14th. Call 217-370-1994 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to register after that date. You may register day of the event also. Shirts only guaranteed if registering by September 10th.
