The 5th Annual Pebble Beach Zombie Race and Emergency Preparedness Fair is scheduled for Saturday, October 27, 2018. We are excited to hold this run in picturesque Pebble Beach on the Fire Defense Roads, from 9:00 am-noon. We have two running courses: the challenging 5K Zombie Crawl (think 3.1 miles of steep hills) and the 2K Survivor Stroll (a flat mile that is perfect for strollers and youngsters). After you complete your run, grab a post-race snack from our sponsors and drag yourself around our Emergency Preparedness booths, you might learn something that could help you survive the next zombie apocalypse or other disasters.
As if Zombie hordes weren't disaster enough... The "Quake Cottage" earthquake simulator will be operating at the Emergency Preparedness Fair. It's very educational and helps prepare kids for a real event.
ARE YOU A SURVIVOR OR A ZOMBIE?
We ask EVERYONE to dress up as a zombie, but the choice is up to you… Those who transform into a zombie will be entered into a “best dressed” contest where the prizes are emergency preparedness backpacks stuffed with all sorts of great loot! REMEMBER, this is a kid-friendly event, zombies with excess gore or displaying violent tendencies will be asked to leave.
REGISTRATION
Registration is limited to 400 participants. All registration fees are non-refundable. Adult registration fees are $25.00 and children are FREE! All child runners MUST be accompanied by at least one registered adult runner. (One adult can accompany several children).
HOW THE RACE WORKS
The course both begins and ends at the Pebble Beach Corporation Yard located at 4005 Sunridge Road, Pebble Beach, CA 93953. Zombies and Survivors need to be at the course starting line one half an hour before their chosen stampede wave. Wave #1 takes off at 9:00 am, this wave is for runners registered in the Zombie Crawl. Wave #2 takes off at 9:10 am, this wave is for runners/walkers registered in the Survivor Stroll. The course will be clearly marked with mile markers and direction signs. In addition, there will be volunteers and medical personnel patrolling the Fire Defense Roads who can offer guidance if you find yourself separated from the Zombie herd.
EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS FAIR
“Why a Zombie Run?” you might ask. In this day and age, public safety officials find it ever harder to compete for children’s attention and time. By offering a Zombie Race, we hope to not only get kids interested in emergency planning but also get them outdoors and moving! This fun event will encourage families to participate together in all aspects of a healthy lifestyle, including personal preparedness. In addition to the race, many public officials and volunteer groups have come together to provide fun and educational displays for you and your family.
