TEST MILE
It is mandatory that each participant completes a maximum effort test mile on a flat road or local track to obtain an accurate estimated one mile time. This estimated time determines your ranking, starting position and bib number. Notify Race Director with your predicted time at least one day prior to the race.
PACKAGE PICK-UP/SHIRTS
Race bibs and shirts for the first 25 registrations are available from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 pm at the Start Like on Bellamy Trail.
STAGGERED STARTS
This race is a time trial event where each person is running alone against the clock. The runner with the fastest predicted time starts first and each subsequent runner starts 10 seconds later with the second fastest predicted time starting second and so on down the line until the final runner with the slowest predicted time starts last. The format leads to very little or no passing on the trails if predicted times are accurate.
MEMORIAL FUNDS
All race proceeds will be directed to Harriers Foundation projects. To date the Prairie Inn Harriers Running Club has raised over $ 350,000.00 towards Foundation projects in Greater Victoria including seven major scholarships and bursaries at the University of Victoria and at Camosun College.
PRESENTATIONS
Awards and draw prizes will be presented at the finish line immediately after the last runner finishes at approximately 2:00 pm. A beautiful, unique perpetual award is presented to the fastest overall male and female.
