My Story…
This is my first marathon, and I am very excited to participate this year. This race is such a great Akron tradition that brings together so many members of the community to run, cheer, and have a good time in support of a great institution, Akron Children's Hospital. We in the greater Akron area are so fortunate to have this amazing resource that serves our children, including my son William.
William had to undergo surgery last September (coincidentally, the weekend of the 2018 Akron Marathon) for sagittal synostosis, a condition that affected the growth of his skull. Though surgery on our 4-month old was a scary experience, we were comforted by the level of care and support he received from the doctors, nurses, and staff at Akron Children's Hospital.
This fundraising effort is just a small way that I can say thank you to such an amazing institution. I hope that you will join me in supporting them too.
