My Story…
With this first half-marathon I'm doing, I'd like to ask for you to help me support the amazing work that the Downtown Eastside Women's Center (DEWC) does. DEWC is one of the very few safe spaces for women and their children in Vancouver's downtown eastside, where there are high levels of homelessness, addictions and poverty. Everyday, over 500 women, children and seniors access their services, which include providing shelter and basic necessities such as hot meals, secure and functioning toilets and shower, clean clothing, toiletries, access to phones and computers, and first aid. I am so aware of how fortunate me and my 2 girls are, and I am grateful and appreciative of organizations like DEWC and their staff and volunteers who are dedicated to looking after vulnerable women and children. All donations go directly to the DEWC.
